What radius is an LSR roller nut?
From what I understand the LSR roller is a 9.5″ radius. The warmoth site suggests using a max of 11″ radius.
How does LSR roller nut work?
The strings ride on top/between a pair of ball bearings (per string), so string contact is minimal and the strings move independently and fluidly through the nut during string bends and heavy whammies. The sustain is incredible and eliminates any snagging between nut and tuners.
How do you adjust a LSR roller nut?
You can’t file LSR nut slots; you have to raise/lower the entire nut using shims. LSR nuts will come come with a set of 6 or 8 shims of varying thickness for doing just that – setting string height.
Are roller nuts any good?
A roller nut can be a great addition to a great guitar but there are several factors to consider before installing one on any guitar. Once this wood is removed it cant be put back without some serious modifications to the neck and often the look and feel of the original guitar is not the same.
What is a TUSQ nut?
Tusq saddles and nuts are actually made from an extremely high-quality polymer, formed by high levels of heat and pressure, which allows them to transfer string energy and sustain more consistently and efficiently. They are now used in instruments from Taylor, Gibson, Tacoma, and many other manufacturers.
How does a locking guitar nut work?
The locking nut, which is used in place of a traditional bone or synthetic nut, has a similar locking design. Using 3 metal plates, these lock down 2 strings each and are also tightened with an allen key. This prevents the strings from sliding over the nut and going out of tune when using the whammy bar.
Is TUSQ harder than bone?
Bone may sound more full but Tusq is actually harder and more dense than bone.
Why are Bonenuts better?
Bone is one of the most popular replacement nut materials and is the favorite among many discriminating guitarists. Bone is very hard, yet it is easy to shape. It’s resistant to wear and produces a bright tone, without it becoming too harsh-sounding.
What is TUSQ XL?
TUSQ XL is a proprietary material which is precision engineered under high pressure and heat. It is impregnated with PTFE throughout so it reduces the friction between the nut material and the string. Because of the way TUSQ XL is made, it is a consistent material that is rich in tone and harmonic content.
